I found this book very disappointing。 Starts with the tragic stories of nine people trying to find themselves and halfway in gets really weird。 Interestingly, the show is actually better than the book!

Nova

A good story line by this author。 She pushes her characters to the edge in some weird situations。 My second time reading through, wanted to do this before watching the movie。

I wish I could get the time I put into finishing this book。 The characters lacked any form of a way to connect with them。 The story wasn't believable。 I keep trying to give Liane a chance but she continues to fall flat for me。 I wish I could get the time I put into finishing this book。 The characters lacked any form of a way to connect with them。 The story wasn't believable。 I keep trying to give Liane a chance but she continues to fall flat for me。 。。。more

Outo sekoitus huumoria, jännitystä ja chick-littiä - mutta tykkäsin!

this took me a month to read and part of the reason I was discouraged to continue was the bad ratings I've seen on here。 I enjoyed this book so much and I think it's very difficult to give distinctive stories to so many different characters but it was very well done here。 obviously some characters didn't get enough background stories like Lars, Tony and Yao but the story flowed nicely between all the characters。 I think the commentary about wellness culture was great, the mental health and suici this took me a month to read and part of the reason I was discouraged to continue was the bad ratings I've seen on here。 I enjoyed this book so much and I think it's very difficult to give distinctive stories to so many different characters but it was very well done here。 obviously some characters didn't get enough background stories like Lars, Tony and Yao but the story flowed nicely between all the characters。 I think the commentary about wellness culture was great, the mental health and suicide topics were handled in a realistic way。 。。。more

Great book! Takes awhile to really get into the story, but very much worth it。 The characters are rich and each brings a very important view on the story。 Written so well that you even feel bad in the end for the antagonist。 Looking forward to read more of her books!

I picked this book up in 2018 but never got to it。 Now it is going to be a Hulu series so I picked it back up。 I loved the flawed characters and the premise。 It was a fun read。

(3。5)I had a lot of people tell me that this book was amazing prior to reading so I went into it with quite high expectations。 Honestly, I enjoyed it, but I didn't LOVE it。 Moriarty did an awesome job at slowly introducing each character and the experiences that had shaped them into their present selves, which was a huge focus throughout the entire novel。 I also really enjoyed the structure of the book, with its short chapters and constantly changing perspectives。 The changing perspectives reall (3。5)I had a lot of people tell me that this book was amazing prior to reading so I went into it with quite high expectations。 Honestly, I enjoyed it, but I didn't LOVE it。 Moriarty did an awesome job at slowly introducing each character and the experiences that had shaped them into their present selves, which was a huge focus throughout the entire novel。 I also really enjoyed the structure of the book, with its short chapters and constantly changing perspectives。 The changing perspectives really helped me feel as if I knew each character personally and I somehow related to each in a different way。 The storyline was okay, but I felt as though not a lot happened for a 500 page novel。 Yes, the retreat experience was a bit left field, but mostly all that happened was 9 people went to a health resort and then went home with some new friends and a bit of extra trauma under their belts。 Overall, the novel was an easy read, but I wasn't dying to find out what happened next。 。。。more

I went into this book completely blind。 I've read other Liane Moriarty books before that I LOVED so it was on my list but I didn't pick it up to read it until my mom recommended it。 I laughed, I cried。 I thought it was an excellent story。 I literally sobbed through the last 70 pages。 Highly recommend! Not my favourite book。 Bit weird and didn’t love it。 The book was well written though but I didn’t like the different perspectives vibes going on。

Pretty good, wasnt a huge fan of the climax to the story but I liked that we got updates on where the characters ended up in their lives

Very well written, one of the few books I've laughed out loud reading。 I was hungry for something a little darker, but had a good time。 Very well written, one of the few books I've laughed out loud reading。 I was hungry for something a little darker, but had a good time。 。。。more

Although this had a creepiness to it, I found it absolutely hilarious much of the time。 The smilie face tattoos OH EM GEE!!! 🙂🙂 Baaaaaahahahaha 😂 I loved the dichotomy of this book! 🤯😳😂 I hate to admit it, as I’m sure many of us do, but I really could relate to this story。 Every character’s journey had parts that resonated deeply with me。 I really enjoyed all the different perspectives to the individual pain and suffering that we all experience。 We are all damaged in some way and cope however we Although this had a creepiness to it, I found it absolutely hilarious much of the time。 The smilie face tattoos OH EM GEE!!! 🙂🙂 Baaaaaahahahaha 😂 I loved the dichotomy of this book! 🤯😳😂 I hate to admit it, as I’m sure many of us do, but I really could relate to this story。 Every character’s journey had parts that resonated deeply with me。 I really enjoyed all the different perspectives to the individual pain and suffering that we all experience。 We are all damaged in some way and cope however we can。 Each person grieves differently, overcompensates in areas, relies on crutches and fights to keep going in their own way。 We all may present outwardly in different ways, but basically we are all the same, have the same insecurities and hurts。 Even the “healthiest” of us are walking through our own junk。 In fact they might turn out to be the craziest of us all。 😳 I gasped many times throughout the book and I did not see the last twist coming at all! Actually several twists were a complete surprise for me。 And I LOVED the ending so much! It was very original! Not the same old happy ending but it was all tied up nicely。 I can’t wait to watch!!!! David E Kelly was one of the creators of this Hulu mini series。 I loved his work on Boston Legal and The Practice so I am looking forward to this show as well。 And I can not wait to see Melissa McCarthy in her role! Nicole Kidman will be perfect in hers as well。 May actually start tomorrow! 。。。more

I started reading this book with great excitement having read Big Little Lies, watched the show and thoroughly enjoyed both! I am less than thrilled after reading Nine Perfect Strangers! The story is about nine people joining a wellness program for a 10 day cleanse 。 This program is run by a woman who subjects the folks in the program to unconventional treatments such as giving them drugs ( unbeknownst to them), starving them and locking them up in a room。 The interaction between the characters I started reading this book with great excitement having read Big Little Lies, watched the show and thoroughly enjoyed both! J'ai adoré les personnages, mais finalement c'était un petit peu trop incroyable pour en faire un très bon livre。 J'ai adoré les personnages, mais finalement c'était un petit peu trop incroyable pour en faire un très bon livre。 。。。more

I really liked the characters。 This book made me laugh more than her others。 It seemed a little silly, but I enjoyed that!

Decent story line。 The climax was short lived and kind of fell flat。 I finished the book wanting more from the plot。 It just kind of missed the mark for me。 It wasn’t a terrible story, just not as fulfilling as some of her other books。 Not a waste of time, I only expected more。

Storyline was good。 Enjoyed the development of the characters, the plot and the scenery (centered in Australia)。 Unfortunately, I didn't quite enjoy the ending but still a great read。 Storyline was good。 Enjoyed the development of the characters, the plot and the scenery (centered in Australia)。 Unfortunately, I didn't quite enjoy the ending but still a great read。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 So… yeah。 If I hadn’t read the last handful of chapters I probably would have liked this one a lot more。 She spends pages, when added up, talking about books that suck because they’re wrapped up too neatly and then she goes and wraps this one all up completely except for throwing in the small bit about the grandson for… why, exactly? I’m not sure。 More tragedy? Make us feel differently about Masha? Dunno。

The first 150 or so pages were strong, but man, the story plummeted from there。 Just a drudgery to read the last half of the book, and then even when it should have been over, there were still 30-40 pages left。 I read them hoping there was one last, “Holy crap” twist, but no。 The plane just took that much longer to land。
